The growing community of Golden Square is better protected with a new, modern fire station for their local CFA brigade thanks to the Allan Labor Government.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today visited the Golden Square Fire Station to officially open the new facility, which has provided a major boost to the capability of the brigade.

“The Golden Square Fire Brigade has played a crucial role in protecting the community for over a century and they now have a new, fit-for-purpose station so they can continue their important work." Said Ms Edwards

This new facility gives our hardworking volunteers more space and modern facilities to ensure they can respond safely and efficiently to incidents in Golden Square and surrounding areas.”

Located at 69-73 Specimen Hill Road, the new station replaces the brigade’s previous facility at High Street which it operated out of for more than 110 years.

The new station features:
• a four-bay drive-through motor room, providing ample space for modern firefighting
vehicles,
• a new turnout space and office,
• training room and external training yard,
• change room ad laundry,
• workshop facilities and a hose drying tower,
• a large three-bay storage shed.

The Golden Square brigade has served its local community since 1881 – in 2024 the 61 members of the brigade responded to more than 250 incidents including fires, car crashes and rescues.

The Labor Government provided funding for the new facility through the $81 million CFA capital upgrades program.
