The countdown is on for this year’s iconic Harcourt Applefest, with funding secured by the Victorian Government.
Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today joined members of the Harcourt Applefest Planning Committee and Mount Alexander Shire Council to announce $10,000 towards the annual event, being held on Saturday 7 March 2026.
“For over 30 years Harcourt Applefest has brought people together to celebrate our wonderful local producers, and this year will be no different.” Said Ms Edwards.
“I’ve worked closely with the Harcourt Applefest Planning Committee in recent weeks to determine how we can best support them to deliver an outstanding festival following the fires.
“This year’s event will be a brilliant symbol of community, and will highlight everything we love about our region. I can’t wait for this year’s festival, and congratulate every volunteer involved.”
Funding will go towards amplifying marketing activities to intrastate audiences, which will support recovery efforts, restore confidence, promote Harcourt and bring visitors back to the region.
Operating for more than 30 years, Applefest features a produce market, entertainment on a main stage, competitions featuring art, cooking and Lego, and an apple pie eating competition.
Harcourt is home to a vibrant community of producers, notably apples, wine and cider, all of which were significantly impacted by the bushfire.
This year will see the festival return to James Park and surrounding streets, and will allow local producers and community groups to showcase the strength of our region.
Funding has been secured through the latest round of the Government’s $38 million
Regional Events Fund.
The fund is delivered by Visit Victoria and supports festivals, sporting events and art exhibitions that create local jobs, boost tourism and showcase Victoria’s regional communities.
Since 2016, the Government’s Regional Events Fund has supported more than 450 events across regional Victoria.
