The Allan Labor Government is ensuring Victorians can access mental health and alcohol and other drugs treatment and care in safe, modern spaces.
Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today visited Bendigo Community Health Services to celebrate successful funding in the latest round of the Mental Health and Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) Capital Renewal Fund.
“Bendigo Community Health Services’ Kangaroo Flat site is an important part of our Kangaroo Flat community.” Said Ms Edwards
“We know how important it is for our community to be able to access this specialist care close to home.”
Under the latest round, $1 million will be provided to Bendigo Community Health Services for a range of safety and accessibility upgrades at their Kangaroo Flat site.
The project includes:
• Upgrade entry, waiting and consultation areas.
• Correction of non-compliant consultation rooms and corridors to meet disability access requirements
• Enhanced security features including automated sliding doors, secure dosing area, and duress alarms
• Expansion from two to three consulting rooms plus a new dedicated wellbeing room for staff and peer support
The project is one of 32 mental health and AOD services across the state sharing in $20 million for critical upgrades and refurbishments.
The Mental Health and AOD Capital Renewal Fund responds directly to recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System.
It aims to improve mental health and AOD services by creating safer, more accessible and more supportive environments for staff, consumers and their families, carers and supporters.
Since 2018, the fund has delivered $70 million in critical upgrades and refurbishments to mental health and AOD services across Victoria.
