Stage 1 of North Bendigo Recreation Reserve’s redevelopment will soon be underway thanks to $1 million from the Allan Labor Government’s Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards MP joined reserve user groups to celebrate the funding, which will see the construction of a new community and sporting pavilion at Shadforth Park.

The pavilion will include four unisex change rooms/amenities, shared club and community function space, umpires change room and amenities, canteen, administration room, storage, game day and publicly accessible toilets.

The funding adds to the $1 million from the Albanese Labor Government, and over $700,000 from the City of Greater Bendigo.

“I’m delighted that the Allan Labor Government’s contribution is the final piece to make Stage 1 a reality,” Ms Edwards said.

“There is a great spirit amongst user groups at the reserve – and I know this project will deliver important community and sporting outcomes, as part of the longer-term vision identified in the master plan.”

The Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund encourages councils, clubs and communities to work together to design the facilities their town wants, with a focus on getting more people involved regardless of their age, gender or ability.

The Regional Community Sports Infrastructure Fund builds on more than $23 million announced in the 2024-25 Victorian Budget to provide world class community sports infrastructure and initiatives that boost participation and inclusion in local sport.

Since 2014 the Labor Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and recreation.
