The Country Fire Authority Baringhup West Brigade is now even better equipped to protect local communities after receiving a new medium tanker as part of its firefighting fleet.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards recently visited the brigade to officially hand over the vehicle.

“The Baringhup West Brigade are an important part of this region, and I give my thanks to all the members for the work they do in protecting our community. I’m so proud that we’ve been able to support this new medium tanker.” Said Ms Edwards.

“The Allan Labor Government is ensuring our fire agencies across the state are well equipped and resourced so Victorians can be protected now and into the future.

“The Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program provides funding for vital equipment to support our hard-working volunteers to continue protecting our community.”

The acquisition of the new tanker was made possible thanks to the Allan Labor Government’s investment of over $320,000 through the Volunteer Emergency Services Equipment Program (VESEP) grants program, with the brigade also contributing over $58,000.

The tanker has a four-wheel drive crew cabin and can safely seat up to five crew members.

It holds approximately 2,000 litres of water for firefighting, in addition to its 650 litre capacity for crew and vehicle protection sprays.
Featuring brackets to hold breathing apparatus and cylinders, the tanker will ensure our volunteers have the best possible protection when serving their local community.
