From Bendigo to Bairnsdale, even more Victorians, whatever their level of fitness, are being urged to join in the fun and sign up for this year’s Premier’s Active April.
Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards MP joined Active April Ambassadors including Nine News presenter, Sarah Lawrence and the kids from Camp Hill Primary School at Bendigo’s iconic Queens Elizabeth Oval today to launch the campaign.
Last year a record 124,913 registered for the campaign and enjoyed the benefits that come from increased physical activity.
This year we’re calling on even more Victorians, whether it’s at work, home or at school to go one better.
Getting involved in Active April can be as simple as taking a regular walk, riding to school or work, exercising during your lunch break at work, getting out in the garden or joining your local sports club.
By taking the first step, you can work your way up to an exercise or a sport that you love.
Registration for Premier’s Active April is free and everyone who signs up will receive 10 free YMCA gym passes or access to a participating local government facility, as well as plenty of fitness incentives and discounts.
Participants this year will also have access to the ‘Get Active Workouts’ video series through an app, which features 30 different 10-minute workout ideas to inspire and motivate participants of all ages and abilities.
Other high-profile Victorians supporting the campaign this year include AFLW stars Katie Brennan and Darcy Vescio, The Western Bulldogs’ Liam Picken and wife Annie Nolan, netballer Kate Moloney, Paralympian Jess Gallagher, and news personality and Premier’s Active April legend Peter Hitchener.
