The Victorian Government’s $1.1 million investment in businesses across the Loddon Mallee region will help to create 65 new jobs and provide a major boost to the local economy.

State Members for Bendigo, Maree Edwards and Jacinta Allan today announced that companies in Bendigo and Newbridge would receive funding to create more regional jobs and opportunities for local people.

Through the Regional Jobs and Infrastructure Fund, which invests in projects that make regional Victoria a better place to live, work and do business, the Government has provided funding to facilitate investment in five businesses:

  • Bridgewater Compost will invest $7.8 million investment in an advanced organic mushroom production facility at Newbridge. This will enable the company to purchase plant and equipment to produce 25 tonnes of organically grown mushrooms per week, creating 20 new full-time jobs.
  • Southern Phone Company, the largest regionally based telecommunications provider in Australia, will build a second major operating site from their NSW headquarters in Bendigo, which will create 30 new jobs
  • The Australian Turntable Co will invest $1.9 million towards the expansion of their Kangaroo Flat factory and install equipment, creating an additional 15 full-time jobs.
