The Andrews Labor Government has finished building 150 new car parks at Castlemaine Station, giving passengers an easier trip to work or school in the morning.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today announced the completion of works, which will allow more passengers to drive to the station and catch the train.

The works included installing new lighting, line markings, CCTV and signage to improve safety and station access.

A new footpath was also constructed on the station side of Kennedy Street to link the new car park to the station.

The Labor Government’s $20 million Station Car Park Upgrades Program is building more than 2,100 extra parking spaces at regional and metropolitan train stations — where they are needed most.

It comes as the Labor Government in August added 18 more weekly services on the Bendigo line, giving Castlemaine passengers more options in getting around on weekends and weekday nights.
