LABOR COMES TO THE AID OF GOLDEN SQUARE BOWLING AND CROQUET CLUB.

The Andrews Labor Government will replace sporting equipment stolen from the Golden Square Bowling and Croquet Club.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today announced the club would receive $1,045 from the Labor Government’s Sport and Recreation Emergency Equipment Grants program.

The grant allows the Golden Square Bowling and Croquet Club to replace essential sporting equipment that has been lost through theft and criminal damage.

Ms Edwards has been highly supportive of the club and was concerned when she heard of the theft.

Our helping hand provides swift, practical support to get clubs up and running again in their time of need.

Each year, the Government provides $30,000 through the Sport and Recreation Emergency Equipment Grants program.

We know grassroots clubs are the heart of our community, and we’re giving more locals in this community the safe, modern and inclusive facilities they deserve.

The 2017/18 Victorian Budget included a $20 million boost to our Community Sports Infrastructure Fund, of which $14 million has been dedicated to build female-friendly change rooms for women and girls across the state.

Quotes attributable to Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards

“Sadly, our grassroots clubs are often targeted by vandals and thieves who damage and steal vital sporting equipment.”

“That’s why our emergency grants exist – to provide the lifeline clubs such as the Golden Square Bowling and Croquet Club need to get on with business.”
