The Andrews Labor Government is taking action to repair the much-loved Castlemaine Market building.

Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards today announced urgent works to tend to rising damp and salt damage.

The repairs are possible thanks to a $75,000 Living Heritage Grants Program grant.

The building dates back to 1862, and features a mix of Australian colonial Greek and Roman Classical Revival styles. It’s one of the few surviving early colonial market buildings.

The repairs in Castlemaine are one of 20 projects at Heritage sites across Victoria receiving funding under the Living Heritage Grants Program.
