California Gully Primary School students will soon enjoy an upgraded outdoor area and a new vegetable garden thanks to Andrews Labor Government funding support.

After previously raising the matter in Parliament, Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards today announced that the school would receive $30,000 from the Andrews Labor Government for upgrades to the outdoor area and the development of a vegetable garden.

The school is planning to extend the vegetable garden into a larger community vegetable garden which is worked by students during the day and the community after hours and weekends.

The school will contribute funding to complete the first stage of this project.

The Andrews Labor Government is committed to building the Education State and that means ensuring all Victorian students get the opportunity at a great education – no matter their circumstances.

The Education State is about taking our education system from good to great, and this starts with fixing our schools and building the right infrastructure to support our kids to thrive.

California Gully Primary School will also receive equity funding of $310,337 this year, which is $150,393 more than 2015, as part of a more than 70 per cent increase in equity funding for Victorian government schools to help break the cycle of disadvantage.
