STATE GOVERNMENT MUST STEP IN TO AVERT CRISIS AT CASTLEMAINE HEALTH

Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards today called on the Minister for Health David Davis to immediately step in and avert the growing financial crisis at Castlemaine Health.

Ms Edwards said that the Government had once again bungled a major infrastructure project, just like they did with the new Bendigo hospital and the delay in commencement of that project, and that it was clear that the Government’s poor planning and modelling of the $10 mill hospital redevelopment was the major reason for Castlemaine Health having a $2.7 mill deficit.

“I will be raising this very concerning matter with the Minister for Health at the earliest opportunity in Parliament next week”.

“It is imperative that the Minister for Health David Davis step in and provide emergency funding to avert a crisis at Castlemaine Health”.

“For the sake of the patients and community of Castlemaine this needs be addressed immediately”.

“The State government needs to give the patients and the community of Castlemaine and the region confidence that their hospital that they rely on will have the capacity to function unhindered by this bungled redevelopment into the future”.
