Action Plan For McCrae Street TAFE Campus Sought

Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards today called for a meeting with the new Interim CEO of Bendigo TAFE to find out TAFE’s action plan to keep open the Bendigo campus of TAFE in McCrae Street.

The State Liberal National Party government slashed Bendigo TAFE funding by $9 million per annum then belatedly put back just a fraction of these slashed funds.

“They left the Bendigo TAFE campus in McCrae Street swinging in the wind”, Ms Edwards said.

“The Bendigo community want to know what action plan is being put in place to keep the Bendigo campus in McCrae Street”.

“The historic School of Mines building in McCrae Street is an icon for public education in our proud city”.

“Historical buildings are best with historical uses and it should continue to be used as an education facility - as it has been for the past 140 years”.

“I look forward to meeting the new CEO and hearing what the action plan is and what I can do to help keep this iconic education building open for education”.
