RAVENSWOOD INTERSECTION NEEDS REAL COMMITMENT – NOT BAND-AIDS

"What a pity the Shepparton based Member for Northern Victoria Region, Wendy Lovell cannot convince her Melbourne centric Liberal National Government into committing real funding for the Ravenswood interchange," Member for Bendigo West Maree Edwards said today.

"Whilst any money is welcome to try and prevent further accidents, this Band-Aid attempt falls way short of what is needed,” said Ms Edwards.

The $648,000 that has been announced is to fund the safety upgrade of two intersections in the region. This falls woefully short of what is needed for the intersection at the Calder and Alternative Calder Highways at Ravenswood.”

“Ms Lovell should be shouting from the top of Mount Alexander insisting that the Baillieu Ryan Government match the previous Labor Government’s election commitment and provide the $7M required for planning the upgrade and to gain Federal funding for a desperately needed new interchange."

“I call on Ms Lovell and the Roads Minister Mr Mulder to tell the people of Central Victoria just when and if the Coalition government plans to prioritise the Ravenswood Interchange and fund the planning works”.
