LIBERAL NATIONAL GOVERNMENT PRIORITY - PRISON BEDS NOT HOSPITAL BEDS

LIBERAL NATIONAL GOVERNMENT PRIORITY - PRISON BEDS NOT HOSPITAL BEDS

The Liberal National government’s failure to deliver on its promised additional 100 hospital beds in favour of delivering hundreds of new prison beds exposes how distorted their priorities are, Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards said today.

“A key Liberal/National Party election health promise was to deliver 100 new hospital beds before July 2012 and 800 new beds in their first term. Not only have they failed to deliver any new hospital beds but they have redirected their funding priority towards more prison beds”.

“The health budget has been slashed by $600 million and it seems the Liberal National government deem that health is less important than building new prisons and a multimillion dollar police station in Melbourne”.

“Health and Education in regional Victoria are the big losers under this government and people are rightfully angry at their failure to deliver on any new hospital beds”.
