EDWARDS CALLS ON HALL TO IMPLEMENT HIS OWN SUGGESTIONS - POSTPONE FOR ONE YEAR THE INCREASE IN TAFE FEES

Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards today called on National Party Minister for Skills Peter Hall to implement his own suggestions about TAFE fees that he made when in opposition in January 2010.

“In 2010 Peter Hall called on the Labor government to postpone for one year the increase in fees for diploma and associate diploma fees for TAFE students to make these courses more accessible for more people”.

“As a result of the millions of dollars ripped out of the TAFE system by the National Party, there will be a huge increase in the fees that students will have to pay for course”.

“If it was good enough for Peter Hall to call for a yearlong moratorium on fee increases when he was in opposition, then it is good enough that he now implement his own suggestions”.

“Students will be much worse off under the Liberal National Government’s new TAFE regime and to relieve some of the pressure on them I call on the Minister to implement a yearlong moratorium on TAFE fee increases”.
