Member for Bendigo West, Maree Edwards today welcomed the event to mark the start of Bendigo’s Art gallery expansion works.

“This is great news for Bendigo as the Art Gallery has become a prominent centre in the Arts world and beyond – particularly since the highly successful exhibitions of Grace Kelly and the White Wedding Dress”.

“I’m pleased that the former State Labor government funded initiative, in conjunction with the City of Greater Bendigo is finally going to get underway”.

“I’m proud that it was a Labor government that funded this initiative and worked closely with the City to make sure that it was a reality”.

“Labor Member for Bendigo East, Jacinta Allan worked tirelessly to ensure that the City was allocated State funding for this expansion”.

“”Despite opposition from Liberal and National candidates and members at the last election, it would appear that the Liberal National government have finally come to realise the significance and importance of this development for Bendigo”.

“I look forward to seeing the work commence and the Art Gallery growing in size and reputation”.
